30 June, BYD and Intel China held a kickoff event of the ICT Driving Innovation together. This marked both sides’ determination in developing new energy autos and the intelligent automobiles together. By applying advanced information technology and accelerating the pace of innovation BYD hopes to transform the Chinese auto electronics industry into a more self innovative one. With the help of Intel’s strong technological support in intelligent automobiles design and digitizing manufacturing, BYD will be able to accelerate the pace of auto manufacturing innovation.

At the kickoff ceremony, a BYD senior executive said, “BYD has always stuck to „Technology Based, Innovation Oriented’ since the beginning. If BYD were to combine its unique “i system”with Intel’s experience in autonomic computing and auto electronics, the two can push for another innovative development within the electric vehicle industry.”

During the 12th Five Year Plan period, China Machinery Industry Federation has proposed the “Green First” development strategy. The development of green energy and energy conservation has been fueling the growth of the auto industry. In 2003, BYD entered the auto industry and through its previous foundations in manufacturing and innovative nature, BYD quickly became one of the most leading-edge car manufacturers in China.

Under the joint sponsorship by BYD auto CO.LTD and Intel CO.LTD, the event “ICT Driving Innovation” targets itself in promoting the cooperative intentions between the two companies. Products such as the Xeon server and Atom processor might be integrated into BYD’s auto electronics platform. Meanwhile, the service and software team from Intel might have the opportunity to collaborate with those in BYD and combine the technological advantages from both sides, thus improving the auto electronic aspect of BYD's EVs.

“Intel is interested in cooperating with BYD in the informationization of auto manufacturing on both the software and hardware aspects. We will be providing comprehensive technological support.” said the VP of Intel’s Global Marketing and general manager of new business John Davis. “The cooperation between BYD and Intel will consolidate BYD’s leading status in EV.

The area of possible cooperation includes the optimization of IT service platform and the development of auto IT multimedia system, etc. In the coming future, the two companies will also host events and invite cooperative partners of the supply chain to discuss the production of better green technology EV. In short, through the use of Enterprise Informationization, BYD hopes to improve the speed of innovation within the industry chains.
